hello family. i refuse to direct this email towards anyone that happens to be reuniting together and going to the galapagos. i may be slightly bitter.....as in i hate you all. first harry potter world and now ecuador.
well here's my week.
monday: last monday we spent preparation day at hard rock cafe as a district plus hermana cruz and wilson. it was beautiful. mom if i were speaking to you right now i would mention that it was the same hardrock cafe right there in plaza catalunya that saved you me and austin’s lives about five years ago when we were suffering from frozen pizzas for two weeks straight. let me tell you...it’s even better as a missionary....pants, american hamburger, music, zero table conversation, nine missionaries staring intently and the television screen....picture perfect. i heard adele. just rockin out at hardrock.
tuesday: this day i had the best moment ever. you basically can call me a spaniard now. I’m a native. so we were going to this members house. i was leaving the metro and this american tourist came up to me asking me directions IN SPANISH. i felt pretty legit....i can’t tell you how excited i was that she thought ONE i spoke spanish and TWO i actually knew my way around the area. i figured out later that the directions i gave her with such surety were in fact wrong, but that’s not important...IM A NATIVE. soy una española.
wednesday: i pretty much had the funniest conversation with one of the elders in my district this morning. the topic-district boyfriends. the rules, regulations, and logistics were all explained. i asked him if elders do the same to sisters. apparently they don’t. sister missionaries are freaks...and he pinned the point exactly on why i was always so against serving a mission.
Here’s my best part of the day...so we were on the bus and I’m just sitting there looking out the window and guess who i see just sitting there in a cafe eating all by herself- MARLITH. (from hospitalet) we both make eye contact at the same time and jump up out of our seats and me and rejon run off the bus, marlith runs out of the cafe right into each others arms. she bought us ice cream. and we found out she was moving to london for good this next week and i just was super giddy to know that i got to say goodbye before she leaves for good. i will always remember....yo nací en la selva de peru!
we ended the night at a noche de hogar with the march family. one of my favorite families in the ward...they are straight up crazy catalans. like they speak catalan. (dakem portes. that is the extent of my catalan knowledge so far. it means doors closing) we played this game that would not be played by people who are still in the process of learning spanish. and then on top of that with people who like to pick on people who are learning spanish. It’s like super fast tongue twisters i was getting sinning and fishing mixed up and each time you mess up you get a mark drawn on your face. i won (as in lost) with the most marks.
thursday: hermana rejon was sick this morning, which left me constrained to the piso. she passed out and i was left with nothing more than myself and the ticks of the clock....tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick.....that was about all i could take. i busted out the best thing that could ever happen to a missionary....THE DISTRICT TWO. it can be explained as the lds missionary version of mtv’s real world.... they follow around eight missionaries preaching the gospel UNSCRIPTED. yeah it goes there. my favorite clip would have to be when german is taught the law of chastity.. like i actually LOL. so i made some microwaveable brownies (tyler i feel like you would thoroughly enjoy these) and hung out with my replacements to ross, joey, chandler, monica, phoebe, and rachel for the next year and a half.....e. moreno, e. christianson, e. murray, e. tituu, e.bott, e. hepworth, sis voyels, and sis zaldivar.
friday: that awkward moment during personal study when you realize you’ve been out on a mission too long because you can’t get over how funny this scripture is....proverbs 28:25...he that putteth his trust in the lord shall be made fat.... srs. rofl. sesh.
GUESSSS WHO I RAN INTO FRIDAY....doris. do you guys remember doris? from hospitalet. i. love. doris. we met each other like my first couple days in the mission field. she walks into the chapel and asks if this is the right place for english class and tells me shes brand new here and wants to learn english. OMGZ NO WAY. i told her mee too but I’m trying to learn spanish. instant connection. she was my first baptismal invitation i ever offered anyone. it was the best seeing her.
saturday: this was my best day of this transfer (btdubs we receive transfer call this weekend. which means pday is tuesday. so don’t expect to hear from me till tuesday. which also means the nervous poos are now in the process of happening.)
k so i wrote home last week telling you about my week but you wont get it till prob wednesday. plus some unnamed people have betrayed my love and are currently hanging out with turtles and wont get that till later. so let me give you the background. we found this family from the dominican republic. they are perfect. like perfect. like our first lesson with them, I’m pretty sure by the end the dad, fernando, finally believed me that canada is not part of the united states, that it is indeed its own country. if that doesn’t gain trust and confianza in me I’m not sure what would? (okay real quick the dads name is fernando and the little baby daughters name is fernanda....like if its a girl you can name it phoebe and if its a boy you can name it phebo.... BAHHHHH. i haven’t lost it yet) we picked them up for church the next day and walked with them and it was like picture perfect, beautiful......imagine....this family of five...the mom pushing the stroller and the little boy caring his little sister on her shoulders. omg. perfect. then we figured out they didnt live in our area and we had to pass them over to the elders. so saturday was the dreaded day that we had to do the pass. like we were going to go over with the elders to introduce them and everything. so we are there walking to the pico of the dominicans and i overheard the elders talking (eavesdropping skills) and i overhear them talking about fairness....so i butt in (big mouth skills) "what’s not fair?" then they proceed to tell us that they have a confession to make...."this is in your area, not ours" WELLLL MOVE BIHS GET OUT THE WAY....WE FINALLY HAVE PEOPLE TO TEACH. so now we are teaching the best family ever. fernando (the dad), aldefa (the mom) sai and vitan (the two sons...10 and 13) and fernanda ( the princess of the family..1 yr.)
sunday: well yesterday in church i found out i have to give a talk this coming week in sacrament meeting....TWENTY MINUTES. twenty minutes in spanish. TWENTY MINUTES IN SPANISH. i don’t think I’ve ever even spoken for twenty minutes in english. what are these people thinking???? and i hate it when they tell you can choose your topic. FML.
rejon and i found a opened box of candy on the bench. we ate them all. they were yummy.
and listen to how funny i am...president didnt go to our ward today and he called me up. he asked me if i went to church today and i said no we decided to go to the beach instead. i love president pace.
last night hermana cruz, wilson, dalton, stephenson, pazgueno all came over for a SLUMBER PARTY!!!!! me and cruz snugled all night together on the couch. and we may too have farted on each other.....hehehehheehe. and guess who wrote me a letter....ANGELA FROM HOSPITALET. best letter ever. i read it while smelling the perfume she gave me.
plus we have no money left on our phone until next week. rofl. jokes on us. It’s like we are missionaries in the olden days now with no phone.
love you family that is in america!
talk to you next week!!!!
love your spainard miguelita.
