HEY FAM.. WHATS CRACKIN?
so here's my week.
saturday. worst day of my life. i was sitting there and we were role playing in class like me and elder cox were teaching elders jensen and goddard as investigators in spanish. duh in spanish. just assume everything is in spanish now. so we are sitting there and i got SO frustrated with myself. i was sitting there opening my mouth and realizing NOTHING was coming out. 1. i cant teach. 2. I CANT SPEAK SPANISH. right there that instant i started balling. and i ran to the bathroom and just sat there crying thinking to myself "how am i going to be able to do this? what did i get myself into?" then just cried the rest of the night. luckily it was right before dinner so there wasn't that much of the night night left. that moment right there is the top contender for number one most pathetic moment of my life.
btdubs, its really awkward to start crying in a room full of elders. they all just look away pretending that you aren't crying. and i cover my face pretending they wont see me cry...but they know I'm crying and i know that they know they are crying. NAME THAT EPISODE OF FRIENDS: they don't know that we know that they know that we know. rofl.
sunday. so sunday morn was the usual got up went to church. and the COOLEST thing ever happened in relief society. the speaker i forgot what her name was. but she was giving a talk on having the spirit with us. like you know the usual...how to get the spirit, how you know your feeling it, etc. it was a fine talk but at the end she concludes with "sisters there will be one point on your mission where you are going to say to yourself, 'how can i do this?'" wait what? OH ME I ASKED MYSELF THAT JUST YESTERDAY. coincidence? heck. to. the. no. cause then she told us what to do when we get to that point. THAT families and friends is heavenly father taking care of His missionaries. BAM. then after that the day just got even better. for lunch they served tomato basil soup. i had only been waiting for that soup since they day i arrived at the MTC. and then we had our weekly temple walk. i "happened" to run into an "hermana bradley" there (SHOUT OUT TO LAR LAR) rofl. and then every sunday night we have a devotional. this one that we had that night was THE freaking funniest thing i had ever been too in my whole life. i forgot the name of the speaker but he showed old school LDS cheesy commercials that always ended with a quote, then he would apply that quote to missionary work. sam, i jotted down some of the quotes for you cause i know how much you like quotes. i wrote them down on the letter i wrote for you guys earlier this morning. we finished up our sunday with the weekly movie. this week we watched the joseph smith movie. it was so good! it also had a scene where two of the characters kissed and i got to witness once again the whole gym break out into cheering. made my week.
monday. uhhh can't remember what happened exactly on this day.
tuesday. tuesday always starts with weekly service. boys bathroom. once again. but this time crossed the line. i want to go clean a urinal and there was a puddle of pee sitting in it. i couldn't touch it. too much. this day i also attempted to do "SYL" or in spanish "HSI" which stands for speak your language, or habla su idioma. which means you have to go the WHOLE day speaking only your mission language. i made it till about mid morning around 10:30. EPIC FAIL. rofl. I'm going to attempt again on saturday. wish me luck. this time I'm shooting for at least lunch.
wednesday. uhhhhhh cant really remember either.
thursday. went to the temple this morning. wrote letters home and now I'm sitting here emailing you guys.
heres what else has happened that i just cant remember the exact days.
so our old investigator "fabian" actually turned out to be our second teacher here. hahaha he walks into class as our teacher earlier this week and we are all like uhhhhh. awkward. his name is hermano stevenson. he served in mesa and is freaking funny!! now to practice teaching, we have hermana santa cruz role play as an investigator for each companionship. and then hermano stevenson role plays as a different investigator for each companionship. we also have each made up investigator roles and we will role play as investigators for other companionships in our district. does that make sense? i feel like i wasn't good at explaining that. maybe ill take a pic of my schedule and send it to you guys next week so you can see what i get to do everyday.
and mother, when you told me i would learn submission on my mission, i have a feeling you might be correct. so i don't remember if i told you but since I'm a solo sister I've been assigned to two elders to teach with and we teach as a trio. so i got assigned to elder jensen and elder cox. elder cox i have no qualms (gre word) with but elder jensen is a different story. him and i have two very different teaching styles, but then on top of that we are both opinionated and stubborn. so he is very rigid, very by the book. he has basically memorized the four lessons in spanish and then goes in there and recites the WHOLE thing to our investigators no matter how much time we have 15 min or 45min. he finds someway to fit the entire lesson in there. i on the other hand like to get to know they investigator find out there needs and beliefs and concerns. and then apply the lessons to them. approach the lesson in a way that benefits them. so i struggle working with elder jensen cause we both want to go about something entirely different ways, we both think our own way is correct, and kind of tune the other persons ideas out. so we clash when we plan our lessons a little bit. seven weeks to go. this will end in one of four ways: 1. we will brawl to the death 2. he will realize I'm right 3. i will learn submission 4. my visa will come. hopefully its the fourth one. i want a chocolate nepolatana.
well my times up. so i have to go. BUT I LOVE YOU ALL so much!!!!!! thanks for all the support and love you guys send. thanks mom, sam, dahvEEED, lush, and grandma for the letters this week!!!!!!
